(I) Measurement of Heat & Mass Transfer

Heat and mass transfer are one of the important phenomena for energy control.

Measurement systems to evaluate the transfer phenomena are focused. In this research, the optical measurement system: interferometer and the image processing technique are studied to evaluate the transfer phenomena.

In my research, quantitative visualization of high spatial and temporal: micro scale/ seconds transfer phenomena have been achieved.

(II) CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage)

CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage) is one of the important concepts for sustainable society.

The chemical absorption method, such as using amine solution is one of the effective approaches for the carbon dioxide capture and storage.

Convection instability and heat and mass transfer in the vicinity of gas-liquid interface, which directly affect the promotion of carbon dioxide absorption are focused and studying from the perspective of heat transfer engineering.

(III) Supercritical Fluid

The heat and mass transfer phenomena in supercritical carbon dioxide are focused.

Supercritical carbon dioxide have some unique characteristics: high-disolvity, high-diffusivity, etc.. It can be applied to the highly efficient and environmental-friendly contaminated soil remediation, and will greatly contribute to the goal of the United Nations, SDGs.

In this research, the heat and mass transfer phenomena of organic substances in supercritical carbon dioxide, which caused by dissolution and diffusion, are evaluated with the special optical interferometer and numerical models.

(IV) Desalination

Purification of water is one of the important issues as stated in SDGs (Goal 6).

We proposed a desalination system using gas hydrate, and try to investigate the desalination mechanism by experimentally salinity measurement.
